Agenda for December  6, 2017  Meeting of the Worship & Music Committee 

 Wednesday, December 6, 2017 -  5:00 p.m., Parlor

 

  1.. Minutes of the  November meeting to be approved 
  2.. Correspondence:  Martha 
  3.. Reports from Specific Task Teams:  
    1.. Aesthetics Team:  Jane Tumas-Serna - request for feedback on decorations, possibility of including brief explanation of displays in worship services, December 10 (two Christian displays, Guadalupe, Solstice) and December 17 (Hanukah, Kwanzaa), lights in swags? 
    2.. Special Music Team: Suzyn 
    3..  Worship Associates Team:  Chris Jacobs and Andrew Clovis have joined the WAs. 
    4.. Piano Task Force:  
    5.. Technology Task Force:  The Committee agreed that multi-directional microphones continue to be a need.  Martha 
    6.. Task Force for the Time for All Ages: 
    7.. Coordination with Buildings & Grounds:  Maggie  
  4.. Re-Usable Folder:  Adeline and Kat 
  5.. Board policy concerning special collections: Shari   Need to clarify procedures for counting, recording contributions to special causes  --  deferred to December meeting 
  6.. Holiday Decoration  Thank you to Women's Group; coordinator for gathering to dismantle, 2:00 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 27 with dinner and meeting to follow.  
Thank you to Men's Group, date of dismantling?   

  7.. Social Justice and Communication 
    1..  Peg expressed the need to have contact names and numbers for often requested community services.  The Committee agreed that it would be good to provide directories in the church and a link on the website and to give members of the congregation a card for quick reference.  - Kat will speak to the Board about the issue and training of greeters, Caring Committee members, and others.
  8.. Transition to Social Hall because of painting and repair of the Sanctuary 
Theme for Year 2017-2018 will be "How do we create a world of our values?"

  9.. Possible Topics and speakers for future services:  Sustainability: Annie Warmke, annie at bluerockstation.com,   Touchstone REACH Packet, Hungry Town, multiple intelligences with additional one - existential-spiritual, powerful children's stories, ages of women, This I Believe, family stories as carriers of family values, June Teenth celebration, reflections of people who grew up in UU congregation (Jay Phillips, Mike Bailey, Dean Banziger), Bill Bauer and Peg Clifford on suicide and kindness,  reflections of former ministers, LeeAnn Gallucci on recovering from loss, Living Mindfully - Prepare for the Unexpected (Robin Bozian, Anita Newhart, Sue Montera, Virginia Mayle), anti-bullying and Shari's Flower Story, Quill as a storyteller, Quakers on consensus, morality of artificial intelligence.
