The Dreams of Decades Past are taking Shape...  

The high tunnel is under construction. The food forests are beginning to take shape. The Happy Nest is gutted and the foundation is complete (waiting to move the building onto it).  The folks we love most in life are overwhelming us with visits and news.

Years ago we would drive back to our home in Florida after a summer of working on the Earthship - dreaming dreams of a future Blue Rock Station that seemed a million miles away.  It's gratifying to see that most of those dreams are becoming a reality.

One of those fantasies included the establishment of a “real” Farm Advisory Board, whose role will be to determine how the land can be used in a sustainable manner - today and long after we have are compost.

At the moment we can see that new versions of the old tours will be developed;  more classes for women will be held; and new relationships with groups like the University of Dayton will be fostered.

Interns will continue to learn and inspire; our online training courses will continue to grow by reaching a global audience; and we will lead harvesting walks through our food forests. 

The goat herd is ready for the next five years (reserve your spring goat now), and Petunia Pea Hen is finally “setting” on a clutch of her eggs.  Our new high tunnel food forest will allow us to experiment with how best to feed ourselves in a controlled environment while the world continues to be increasingly out of control.

The annual Yule party (2021) and Goat Stock Intern Reunion (2022) are on track to take place and, of course, loads of old friends will be invited to the monthly dinners that are planned through the winter. Stay tuned for more updates as the plans materialize.

So Where is the Silver Lining?  

Many thanks to the folks that have traded materials for the summer projects in exchange for plants, or consulting on solar installing or business planning.

This summer we've traded knowledge for flooring, a small wood stove and some lumber. Most of the items were destined for the land fill. It feels good to trade items instead of putting more money into the consumer culture.
