*In Service of Season's Greetings*

Over the last few years, many of us in our congregation have looked
forward to working on a holiday season service project designed by John
Maddox. John brought us all together - young and old(er) in the Social
Hall after the worship service for a "workshop" where we wrote messages
of love and holiday cheer on cards that would be distributed to
residents in area nursing care facilities.

As the virus is running rampant once again, gatherings at the church are
ill-advised, so an after services workshop get-together won't be
possible. We want to keep everyone safe, but we don't want to let the
project be canceled by COVID, so we're asking everyone to help make it
happen by organizing it in a different way.

*Here's what we think will work:*

*- John has generously donated almost 900 cards*for us to fill with
happy seasonal greetings! All we need to do is add the greetings and
sign the cards. No stamps required! Someone on the organizing team will
combine your cards with others and deliver them to the local nursing homes.

*- Schedule an at-home card-writing workshop!*

Beginning *November 29th*, packets of 30 -50 cards and envelopes will be
ready for you to pick up from the church office on days when Chris
Keller is in. (Reminder: The office is closed on Tuesdays.) Packets will
include a sheet of suggested greetings that you may add to the cards.
*Some packets will be indicated for families with young ones,*because
they will also include holiday-themed coloring sheets that can be a
special gift for children to add with the cards. (Of course they can
also do their own original art work if they'd prefer.)

*- Return your finished cards to the church office by December 10.*

When your cards are completed and signed, slide them into the envelopes,
put them back in your packet, and return the packet to the office.

*- Can't get to the church office to pick up or return card packets?*

*Option 1: *contact Adeline Bailey (adesign4199 at gmail.com) and we'll
work out a way to deliver your packet to you and/or get it back to the
office.

*Option 2: *add some special greetings to extra holiday cards (with
envelopes) from supplies that you have at home, and let Adeline know if
you need someone to pick them up.

This community service project has been very well received in past
years. /*Let's make it a success in 2020, regardless of the challenges!*/
