Agenda for April 7, 2021 Meeting of the Worship & Music Committee
Theme for 2020- 2021:  How can we be mindful and authentic in cherishing all life? 
Chalice Lighting:  Be ours a religion which, like sunshine, goes everywhere; its temple all space; its shrine, the good heart; its creed all truth; its ritual, works of love; its profession of faith, divine living.

1. Minutes of  March to be approved.
2. Moving Forward with Virtual Worship and Return to In-Church Services:  What are next steps??
GUIDELINES FOR DESIGNING/PREPARING WORSHIP SERVICE: Martha will make revisions and send in a separate email.  
3. Aesthetics Committee:  Kat reported that Jane Tumas-Serna’s special donation has been used to purchase battery-operated candles for the pulpit area.  Committee members noted how effective they were.
4. Correspondence:  Thank you notes sent to Monica Jones, Ted Goertzel, Ralph Olander, Roger Kalter, Gary Hamilton, Randy Kidder, Annie Warmke.

6. Financial Matters:  The Committee approved a donation of $250 to UU The Vote from the Worship & Music account.  Kat will complete the donation online and request reimbursement. 
7. Budget Requests for 2021-2022:  Martha revised the proposal as discussed and submitted it to Ted Goertzel.  
8. Annual Report:  Martha submitted the revised report by April 1.  
9. Choir/Music Update:  Suzyn clarified Choir performance dates and suggested a totally music service presented by the Choir.  Title idea: Why Do We Sing?
10. The Committee decided to ask committees/groups to reflect on how they are, or intend to be, mindful and authentic in cherishing all life and then to be a part of, or to take responsibility for, a worship service on that 2020-2021 theme.  The Committee hopes that this approach will deepen insight into the purpose of the committee/group, will increase involvement of members/friends, and will inform the congregation of the activities of the committees/groups.  
Martha will report as she makes follow-up contacts with the Board, Board of Trust Governors, Caring Committee, Building & Grounds, Membership, BRIDGES, Finance.
11. Personnel Evaluations and Recommendations pertaining to pay– The Board has asked that the W & M Committee take responsibility for evaluating the Choir Director and the Pianist.  We will return to evaluation in April.  Adeline has provided the Choir Director job description; Martha will inquire about the one for Pianist.  The Committee recommends that, in these unsettled times,  the pay for both Choir Director and Pianist remain the same for the 2021-2022 fiscal year.  However, if funds are available, both the Choir Director and Pianist should receive at least a cost of living raise.
