[Worship] FUUSM - Reflections from Committees/Groups for 2020-2021 Theme

Hi, Gary –

Thank you for engaging the Men’s Group in the two questions.

I’ll pass along the Saturday, Nov. 28, 10:00 a.m. decoration event to the rest of the W & M Committee and Chris.

I hope I can answer any questions the Men’s Group had about the theme and service. Men’s Group has adjusted to the new reality with Zoom meetings; I don’t know if you have done anything else. If they don’t want to plan a whole service, it would be okay simply to have an informational segment that reports how the group has adjusted to keep as many as possible connected to the congregation and supported.

Hi Martha,

Last night, I introduced the request by the Worship and Music Committee for the Men’s Group to participate in a service regarding the theme question and was met with questioning and relevance on the topic, along with little by way of volunteering by those on the Zoom meeting.  I understood that George will contact you and discuss the group’s thoughts.

On a brighter note, I had volunteers to meet at 10:00 AM, Saturday the 28th of November to decorate the church exterior for the holiday season.  I will contact Jane in the next couple of days to confirm decorating resources and plans.

Thanks for letting me know, Gary.

Also, will you ask the Men’s Group about helping with decoration of the fence around the church for the December holidays?
Thanksgiving is November 26, and the first Sunday of Advent is November 29.  I don’t think it is essential to have the fence decorated by November 29, but with so little traveling going on, it might be a welcome reason to get together.

Talk with Jane T-S, please, about the materials that are available and/or needed.

Martha

Hi Martha,

Due to a computer issue on Wednesday, the 21st of October, I was unable to join in and discuss your request with the men signed in to our monthly Zoom meeting.  I prefer discussing the request directly, not just forward it via the Men’s Group email list.  Our next meeting will not be till the third Wednesday of November.  I regret such a late response but I plan to follow through to see if there is a willingness to fulfill the Worship and Music Committee’s request.

Greetings, Leaders of groups in the FUUSM congregation –

The Worship & Music Committee is inviting you and the members of your group/committee to participate in worship services throughout this 2020-2021 year.  You may remember that we took a similar approach during Kat’s sabbatical.

The theme question for this year is “How can we be mindful and authentic in cherishing all life?”  Based on past experience, we envision that preparing for the service will help members better understand the purpose of their efforts and that the sharing will promote appreciation of the group/committee efforts and deeper connections within the congregation.  The pandemic has presented challenges to us all, and even a reflection on how the group/committee is trying to meet their goals while dealing with changed circumstances will be revealing and may spark creative problem-solving.  The Worship & Music Committee and the technology Committee will be glad to provide assistance.

Please be in touch with your group and let me know what month and date you would like to present part/all of a worship service.

Board of Trustees – Cory Sampson
BRIDGES Program Council – Robin Bozian, Lucy Filipow
Buildings & Grounds – Joe Baker
Caring Committee – Gwen Banziger
Green Sanctuary – Dawn Hewitt
Membership Committee – Darryl Ting
Choir – Martha Webster
Midweek Meditation – Rev. Kat
Men’s Group – Gary Hamilton
Women’s Group – Rebecca Phillips

Thank you for considering our request.  We look forward to hearing from you.
