Agenda for November 1, 2017 Meeting of the Worship & Music Committee

1.. Minutes of the October meeting to be approved

1.. Aesthetics Team: will prepare the Sanctuary for the Day of the Dead and November
2.. Special Music Team: Suzyn

6.. Task Force for the Time for All Ages:

5.. Board policy concerning special collections: Need to clarify procedures for counting, recording contributions to special causes
6.. Holiday Decoration
Women's Group has agreed to decorate (starting at 2:00 p.m.) and to meet in the Parlor (starting at 6:00 p.m.) on Wed., Nov. 29 and to dismantle and meet (same times) on Wed., Dec. 27.
Men's Group has agreed to decorate the outside of the building on December 2.
7.. Social Justice and Communication
1.. Peg expressed the need to have contact names and numbers for often requested community services. The Committee agreed that it would be good to provide members of the congregation with a card for quick reference. - Kat will speak to the Caring Committee.
8.. Other Matters Arising: Joe Baker has requested W & M Committee support and cooperation with Buildings & Grounds in continuing to deal with clutter concerns so that 1) the church facilities are functional and pleasing and 2) supplies are stored in orderly and accessible ways. He will take leadership in facilitating the joint efforts.
Theme for Year 2017-2018 will be "How do we create a world of our values?"
9.. Possible Topics and speakers for future services: Sustainability: Annie Warmke, annie at bluerockstation.com, Touchstone REACH Packet, Hungry Town, multiple intelligences with additional one - existential-spiritual, powerful children's stories, ages of women, This I Believe, family stories as carriers of family values, June Teenth celebration, reflections of people who grew up in UU congregation (Jay Phillips, Mike Bailey, Dean Banziger), Bill Bauer and Peg Clifford on suicide and kindness, reflections of former ministers, Jim Couts on Jubilee Gardens, LeeAnn Gallucci on recovering from loss, Living Mindfully - Prepare for the Unexpected (Robin Bozian, Anita Newhart, Sue Montera, Virginia Mayle), anti-bullying and Shari's Flower Story, Quill as a storyteller, Quakers on consensus, morality of artificial intelligence.
