AGENDA for July 13, 2016  Meeting of the Worship & Music Committee  

Note change in date and time --  July 13, 1:30 p.m. Parlor

 

  1.. Minutes of the meeting on June 1 to be approved 
  2.. Correspondence:  Shari (Thanks to Ralph for arranging for live-streaming of GA on June 26.) 
  3.. Thank you from W & M Committee to Rev. Lynda Smith 
  4.. Follow-up on the hospice presentation:  Kat 
  5.. Set-up for Summer Services:  Kat will coordinate with Nancy Novak and the Team about set-up for summer services during the week of June 13.  Martha will be sure that WAs have a copy of the WA Duties for the summer services in FH.  Adeline will coordinate with the Membership Committee. 
  6.. Storage of Chairs in FH:  Martha 
  7.. Reports from Specific Task Teams:  
    1.. Sanctuary Decoration Team: Kat 
    2.. Special Music Team:  Suzyn 
    3.. Piano Task Force:  Suzyn reported that Randy & Jessica are planning a concert for early October 2016.  Each will receive 25% of the proceeds, and 50% of the proceeds will go to the Piano Fund. 
    4.. Technology Task Force:  Martha will ask Ralph Olander and Mike Bailey to investigate the replacement of the current projector with a new device for smooth transmission of images to the TV. 
    5.. Task Force for the Time for All Ages:  Shari Miller, Kerry Blair, Dawn Weidner, Cindy Burton, Diane McMichael, Adeline Bailey, and Ron Tepley.  (Rachel Hyde, Gwen Banziger -- possible additions)  
    6.. Clutter Corps: (Contact - Wendy Morey)   Kat will talk with the Board to see where the Clutter Corps fits in the organizational chart so that communication and decision-making are systematic.  
  8.. Music stands:  Suzyn 
  9.. Pianist:  Because music is such an essential and integral part of the worship service, the Committee would like to recommend that arrangements with the pianist reflect the valuable contribution he makes to all services.  Martha will send a copy of the Committee's position to John Kidd of the Finance Committee and to the Board.  
  10.. June 26 service:  Ralph Olander has agreed to arrange the live broadcast of the General Assembly service.  
  11.. Selection of Specific Lamp for Piano:  Joe Baker reported after the meeting that he will be meeting with the Piano Task Force to discuss the purchase of the lamp. 
  12.. Expenses:  Requisition for Rev. Lynda Smith - June 19 service    Five Sundays off with pay??? 
  13.. Summer Services and Theme for Year 2016-17:  The group concurred that the summer services can start to weave in the year's theme of "What does democracy look like?" Kick-off will be July 3.
Possible Topics and speakers for future services:  multiple intelligences, forgiveness,  powerful children's stories, ages of women, This I Believe, family stories as carriers of family values,  FUUSM stories (Archive Moments), June Teenth celebration, reflections of people who grew up in UU congregation (Jay Phillips, Mike Bailey, Dean Banziger), Bill Bauer on suicide and kindness,  reflections of former ministers, Jim Couts on Jubilee Gardens, LeeAnn Gallucci on recovering from loss, Jeff Danner (jdanner at wvup.edu) on theological topic of choice, involvement in democracy (Willa O'Neill, Roger Kalter, Jane Tumas-Serna, Jim Rapp, Moon Mullens, Nina Redd, Nancy Novak), Katy McGlynn, Living Mindfully - Prepare for the Unexpected (Robin Bozian, Anita Newhart, Sue Montera, Virginia Mayle).
