Shari:

The little bit I know about the hill slides in Washington County is that these were caused by extreme weather events (excessive rain in February 2017 and again in 2018. Warmer winter air carries more moisture--that is more rain and snow. In previous times the winter weather was cold and dry--snow fell but in small amounts, and it stayed on the ground. Now we (and other parts of the world) have extensive and intensive storms with lots of rain. Climate change does not cause hurricanes and storms but intensifies them. Our Washington County engineer is still working on getting FEMA funds to repair the damage from these earlier slides.

It occurred to me that our hill slides in Washington County, is due in part by climate change. By chance could someone give me a number of how many has happened in the past 2 years? It seems to me that it is probably a significant amount. I would research it myself, but I have no time. Thanks, Shari
