GSC & Roxanne:
The meeting with the county commissioners went very well. I let Bob Lane
and Bob Wilson do most of the talking (we were the only three there). They
talked about all the money that they have lost on their damaged oil & gas
wells from brine waste and generally about the risks of the excessive brine
waste. They also talked about how the brine waste is migrating along
geological faults and how fresh water is pushed up from high-pressure
injection before brine waste. The Bobs described their lawsuit against the
disposal well companies, which is in a Washington County Court (sent there
by the Ohio Supreme Court).
I spoke briefly but since I had written remarks (attached), I gave
those to the secretary.
The Marietta Times reporter was not there--I'll send my remarks to the
editor.
The commissioners will ask the Division for a public meeting and
insist that a decision maker like Eric Vendel be there. The latter is
because we want to avoid a recurrence of the fiasco two and a half years
ago at the ODNR public meeting at St. Ambrose Church in Little Hocking
where there were two underlings from ODNR who were instructed not to answer
any questions.
Bob Lane has already got the support of the three Warren Township
Trustees to request a public meeting. One of them has already sent his
request to the Division (he copied me).
Roxanne,
Please spread the word to BEN members. The information they provided
in their action plan was very helpful.
