[Green] Solar Bench Possibilities

Sorry, Annie, but we, the Green Sanctuary Committee, not the City of
Marietta, picked the location for the bench after much discussion and
debate. It was we, not the city, who should have known not to put it in the
floodplain to begin with!! We bought the bench with money we were awarded
from DuPont's Clear Into the Future Grant, and worked with the city to
locate it on city property. The city paid for the slab it is affixed to.
They were supportive and helpful. When we move it, we will be removing
something from city property. I really don't know about its ownership. I
don't think we put it in writing (Rebecca?) that we donated it to the city,
but they agreed that we could install it on their property. Certainly we
remain responsible for its upkeep, but I don't think that's in writing,
either. We have had a great working relationship with the city on this
project and on the riverbank pollinator plot, and I think we want to
maintain that. So, I DO think we have to work with the city on moving it.
Repairing it? No. Yes, we agree 100% that Jay can handle that? Moving it
will almost certainly require disassembling it, and a big truck. I think
the city assembled it originally (Rebecca?).

If it is going to go onto public property elsewhere, we will need
permission and possibly assistance (a concrete slab) from the owner of that
property--presumably city or county. We would eagerly and sincerely welcome
your input on its placement decision so that maybe we won't make such a
dumb decision next time!
