We have some GREAT news from the Ohio Statehouse! The Ohio Senate just passed a bill that would make it easier for Ohioans to install solar. Senate Bill 61 is bi-partisan legislation that eliminates unreasonable restrictions on rooftop solar in all homeowners associations (HOAs) across Ohio.

The passing of this bill is a HUGE step forward to protect homeowners who live in HOAs and want to install solar panels. The bill is heading to the Ohio House of Representatives for debate and consideration. Show your support for solar by contacting your state representative today!

SB 61 proposes common-sense rules to protect our right to go solar. It stops HOAs from imposing unfair restrictions on homeowners that want to go solar. These restrictions could include:

  *   The system's size
  *   How it is designed, and
  *   Even outright bans on solar

These limits restrict solar access in an uneconomical way, limiting industry growth and job creation.

The House of Representatives passing this bill would create fair guidelines for solar in HOA developments. It will lower the need for protracted and expensive litigation between homeowners and HOAs over unreasonable solar restrictions.

Now is the time to act

We need solar supporters to contact their lawmakers before the bill goes to a vote. This shows there is strong public support for this bill. Your Representative needs to hear from you. Tell them why you support this bill. If you have faced difficulty going solar because of HOA rules, let them know that as well.
