Fellow greenies,

I learned today that this evening's public meeting will be the last. According to the consultant, there was a public meeting last month, though I do not remember hearing about it. If you cannot attend tonight's meeting but want to submit ideas, please do so ASAP as a draft proposal is being prepared this week. Here is the message I got from the consultant.

"After our last public meeting, we are working on a draft to present to the steering committee first, later this month. If all goes well there, we will most likely start hearings for adoption in January (January the 10th is the first option). We had considered an additional public meeting but realized the majority of major issues and ideas were discussed at our November public meeting. That being said, we will always welcome written comments. You can submit them through the website contact information or you can send them directly to me (consultant) at wmoeller at compasspointplanning.com. I am working on the draft tomorrow and Wednesday to send out to the committee later this week so comments today or tomorrow will be great but don't feel rushed. There is still plenty of time to get comments even after an initial draft."

I had planned to attend, but learned yesterday evening that I have been exposed to Covid. My recommended test date per the CDC is Thursday, but because my usual winter respiratory state is similar to Covid symptoms, I am going to err on the side of caution and submit my ideas in writing. (The city administration knows what I think, anyway.)

Dear Green friends,

I am overstating the matter, but it’s almost like Marietta is holding a Sustainability Forum for us!

On December 12, from 6-8 p.m., in the cafeteria of the WCC campus on Colegate Avenue: Reimagine Marietta will kick off with a public meeting to start a new comprehensive plan!  I plan to attend if I can. (I am so busy and stressed right now…. Don’t know how I’m going to get my work work done, let alone holiday shopping. And then there’s the completely plugged drain beneath the concrete slab in my basement that Tim and I tackled last night, but we’re going to make sure it’s clear and very open later this evening. If we have a vocal contingent calling for sustainability and resilience, plans for alternative transportation, EV charging stations, bike lanes, community solar power, cooperatives…. I mean, at least in theory, we green visionaries can shape the future of our community!!  What an opportunity!!!
