Hello, all,
*I need a quick response on this. *I signed up for a virtual screening
of a documentary film offered through Interfaith Power & Light, which is
free to faith communities to hold a group screening for their
congregations. However, I was intending it for MOVCA, and for letting
them invite us to join them. I got an email today from IPL indicating
that the agreement between IPL and the filmmakers does not extend to
community groups. So how about we host the screening? I think we can
invite friends (such as people in MOVCA) to join FUUSM (a faith
community) for a virtual screening.
My request to do a virtual group screening of the film was confirmed
earlier, and we have a date set: April 21, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. to stream
the film on Zoom. I'd like the committee to approve GSC hosting the
event, which is already lined up with the "registration in advance"
stipulation required by IPL and the filmmakers, and Eric Engle on tap to
host the discussion after the film. *All we have to do is announce
ourselves as a hosting group from our congregation.
*
***Please say yes to our doing that! *With majority approval, I will
send the invite to our whole congregation via proper email list, and
then invite our friends to join us.
*Please let me know ASAP, today/tonight if possible.*
Thanks,
Adeline
FYI, here's a synopsis of the film:
YOUTH v GOV is the story of America’s youth taking on the world’s most
powerful government. Armed with a wealth of evidence, twenty-one
courageous leaders file a ground-breaking lawsuit against the U.S.
government, asserting it has willfully acted over six decades to create
the climate crisis, thus endangering their constitutional rights to
life, liberty, and property. If these young people are successful, they
will not only make history, they will change the future.
