Happenings at or around Blue Rock Station

We have a number of in-person and online events planned for the coming months:

April:

-  April 21st: Join Annie Warmke for a Goat College “Ask the Expert” Zoom call at 7 pm. Get in touch for the code.
-  April 23rd to 24th: Buffalo Gals welding workshop at the Cherokee Valley Bison Ranch. Women from the Roundup a year ago are finishing up their class series with welding. Join in as the audience to see how you like the class format, and then check out the other classes. Fee: $15 lunch Register by emailing Annie (annie at bluerockstation.com)

- May 7th: Wild Food – Join Laurel Hobden and Annie Warmke to grab your salad gathering baskets and take a walk to find the fixings for a delicious wild salad, and some pesto plus learn other uses for some of the plants
- May 21/22: Buffalo Gals Weekend Round Up with Annie Warmke and Carie Starr. Stay in a real tipi and learn cooking with fire and cast iron, wild food walk, work on a project together and more. Register by emailing Annie (annie at bluerockstation.com)

Monthly Potluck Dinners: Bring something vegetarian (not potato chips or alcoholic) to share with 25 people at 5:00 pm and RSVP (annie at bluerockstation.com) as soon as possible because space is limited.

So Where is the Silver Lining?

Franki LoFrumento Warmke has just been adopted by us from the Muskingum County Dog Pound.

She was in foster care with two of the best people in the universe – Chris and Deb LoFrumento.

Franki is a young aussie and is an example of how the throw-away society treats so many precious inhabitants of this planet.

She is scared of almost everything in life, but holds so much promise. I suspect she will be a terrific companion.. I must be crazy to do this but I seem to have to help her way. After the second meet and greet she relaxed enough to fall asleep. Progress already.

We'd love to hear your silver linings.

A Note from Jay and Me:

Things are going well at Blue Rock Station.

Nine new healthy baby goat kids with one more kidding to go.

Jay managed to get the big tree in front of the house down. If fell the wrong way and missed the house by about two feet (it's the small things to be grateful for).

Norman has finally learned to stay and sit on command – almost every time he is asked.

There's still plenty of firewood for the winter-like spring days we've been experiencing.

Finding a positive note in life has not been difficult these weeks of winter into spring.
