Hello, all,
I looked up the requirements for Interfaith Power and Light's Cool Congregation certification; we definitely qualify, as the main requirement is to verify that we have reduced our energy use and emissions by at least 10%. With the solar panels and efficiency improvements to the RE building, we have done that. I have attached the certification application. If we decide to apply, we will need some specific information regarding our projects, their costs, and the energy savings we have seen.
IPL also offers five $1000 awards in the following categories: Energy Saver, Renewable Role Model, Sacred Grounds, Community Inspiration, and Cool Planner for congregations that have made excellent plans to save energy. As I read the guidelines (attached), we would seem to qualify in several categories. The entry deadline is December 15. Who would be interested in helping draft entries in one or more categories? We can enter three.
Rebecca
