This just appeared in my inbox..  Know some of you will want to try to
attend this. I won't be able to as I'm scheduled for my breast cancer
surgery (mastectomy) on the 29th in Morgantown and will be in recovery
mode.  Just not able to be as involved in  GS as I'd like, but know you all
understand and appreciate keeping informed. Thanks Rebecca for covering my
Muskingum Park sweeping duties. What great things you're doing and how
important!  Please do NOT  try to reply to me or reply to GS as a whole
regarding my health.  Shari Ballantyne is handling coordinating help if you
want to volunteer.  I won't be able to drive and My loved one ( who has
mobility issues)  is also dealing with recent hospitalization and issues..
trying to get a plan in order.. but challenging. We live on Cypress St ,
off 23rd street, near City Park in Parkersburg.

The prospect of Appalachian petrochemical development has reached a *critical
juncture*.

For more than a decade, policymakers in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West
Virginia have built their economic development strategies around the
expectation that the region’s abundant supplies of natural gas would
trigger a vast expansion of energy and manufacturing, bringing with it jobs
and prosperity. But development of major projects in the region stalled,
and well before the onset of the coronavirus crisis. In the virus’
aftermath, both global markets and policy responses to climate change
have *thrown
into doubt the viability of the Appalachian petrochemical dream*.

*What's the likelihood of an Appalachian petrochemical buildout? How would
our region change if one takes place? What will happen if it doesn't?*
