Dear All, I am asking Tree Commission about particulars on the tree cut on Front at Knox. Not sure it was Bradford pear. It was solid as a rock. Did not see any rot whatsoever in pieces of wood piled after cutting. Will share what I learn. Asplandunkola is contracted by AEP.
Workers are stubbing trees terribly all along Franklin, Gilman and Front. I do not recall ever seeing such tree damaging pruning on city trees.

Thank you for that report, Rebecca!
Hmmmm. Maybe we should thank the mayor for taking down that Bradford tree just to let him know we don’t oppose all tree cutting. The hollow one…. maybe if it was dangerous. For the sake of woodpeckers and other wildlife, I’m kind of a fan of dead and dying trees—as long as they are not going to hurt anyone or damage property when they fall.

Hello, greenies,
At yesterday's meeting, Dawn mentioned seeing a tree cut down at the end of Knox Street. I walked down there today; the tree that has been removed was a Bradford pear that was not in good shape. They are invasive, short-lived trees with weak wood, and that one had been deteriorating for some time, with branches breaking off onto the sidewalk. In my mind, removing it was a good call. Another tree closer to the river in the same area has also been cut. I can't remember what it was, but the stump reveals that it was hollow inside and needed to come down as well.
