Annie asked that I put together some cost estimates for installing a
solar charging station.  The parts would cost as follows:

  * $270 - 100 Ah Lithium Ion Battery (12V)
  * $20  -  Secure box for battery and charge controller
  * $30  - Charge controller
  * $200 - 200W solar panel
  * $50  - Mounting bracket for panel
  * $40  - 24 port USB charging outlets
  * $30  - wire and conduit

Total price of parts (not including shipping and installation) = $ 640

This would provide a very robust system that can operate even under low
light conditions and extreme temperatures.   Should be mounted on an
existing structure with the panel and box mounted high enough to avoid
any theft or vandalism.  The only exposed parts would be the charging
outlets and a shelf so people can place their phones.
