[Green] Fwd: Sustainability grant offered locally!

Below is my message to the CITF grant judges and their response. In
summary, the Sustainability Forum is a great project to submit! Elise had
some thoughts to help us measure success as well such as an exit survey.
They also realize the strain COVID-19 has placed on potential projects and
are in discussion on how to adjust the wording around a 2020 start date,
potentially going to "all funds must be spent within one year."

I will get a *rough *draft going on the application for the Sustainability
Forum and provide a Google Drive link tonight for everyone to share their
input to edit or comment without multiple versions and emails flying
around. I'll leave it up through Wednesday night and do a final review
Thursday before submitting.

the CITF grant criteria. We do fund purely educational projects in addition
to the more tangible projects where you’re more likely to get your hands
dirty. CITF was born from the understanding that we don’t have all the
answers and don’t always know what tangible project fits best with each
community’s needs. So, education and collaboration are necessary components
to determining a solution.

The outcomes you choose to measure could definitely be the number of
attendees (or number of people educated). If you want to get even more
detailed, you could also send out a survey to all attendees to get a sense
of what new knowledge attendees walked away with or what actions they plan
to take/change in the future based on something the heard or learned at the
forum. And you could also attempt to keep track of new initiatives or
projects that developed directly from the collaborations at the
Sustainability Forum – could be difficult to track but interesting on a
number of levels.

Either way, it sounds like an interesting project that deals directly with
our focus areas – climate change mitigation and adaptation – so I’d
encourage you and Green Sanctuary to apply!

Lindsey and I can talk to you and Green Sanctuary in more detail about the
requirement that the project start in the calendar year 2020 when we get
further into the grant process. Given a number of factors this year, we
expect to make a change in that language to say that the proposed piece of
the project needs to be completed and funds used within one calendar year
of receipt of the grant funds. We are still working on language there – so
that’s not 100% finalized. But we’ll work with all groups selected for
grants this year to be sure the language is clear and workable for everyone.

Elise and Lindsey,

I am working with Green Sanctuary in Marietta, to submit an application to
CITF. The project we’d like to submit is a Sustainability Forum to bring
together the community, business leaders, faith leaders, and politicians to
inspire action around preventing and improving the communities resilience
to climate change. We have workshops, keynote speakers, etc. planned. I
have two questions for you:

*Is a project like this forum within the desired scope of CITF?* It nails
most of the judgement criteria: environmental education, community
engagement, opportunities for DuPont employee involvement, but it is
difficult to provide a measurable outcome (attendance perhaps?). That makes
me wonder if the purpose of the grant is for more tangible projects, like
installing car changing stations, solar panels, etc. where you can measure
emissions reduced by XXX lbs CO2. If so we will select a project like this
(but we’d like to strive for big, community wide change!)

The original schedule for the Sustainability Forum was in 2020, but due to
COVID-19, has been postponed to a TBD date (most likely early 2021). We can
start putting expenses for the event on the 2020 calendar year. *Is that
acceptable for consideration given the requirement for the project to begin
in calendar year 2020?*
