take/change in the future based on something the heard or learned at the forum.
And you could also attempt to keep track of new initiatives or projects that

I read the grant requirements and it is clear that the committee
is willing to entertain multi-year projects as a special
exception. The Sustainability Forum is a project that has so much
potential to generate economy through sustainable practices that I
think if we have a little feedback from the Dowe committee we
could create a first year project that leads to and supports the
Forum. This is an opportunity for Dowe to gain a lot of traction
in the community if they decide to have a little wiggle room.

If we think of what we could do the first year - Perhaps create
online features of what's happening locally that is going in a
sustainable direction and how to improve it we would gather some
steam for the project and push our agenda. Just one thought.
Signage for buildings and churches (private homes too) that are
practicing some form of sustainable practice (like the bike/tour
shop downtown might be) to begin a real conversation in the
community and then move all that onto the forum in the next phase
of the project (think about the sustainable church designation as
a prototype and something that could be promoted already). Just
another thought. Annie
I was talking to Michael Chisholm
today, and he told me that DuPont
is offering grants for
sustainability projects of up to
$10,000–locally. They need to have
an in-house sponsor (MICHAEL!!),
and I think he said the deadline
to apply is June 6.

Imagine what we could pull off if
we had up to $10,000 to put on a
Sustainable Marietta Forum!! But
we can’t even set a date for that
yet, so, let’s come up with a
different idea. How about this: an
electric car charging station (or
two) in front of FUUSM that (on
sunny days) would be powered by
the SUN—on the roof of the
sanctuary. Maybe we could have a
few small panels installed on
posts—part of the charging
stations (?) that connected to
FUUSMs system, too, but more
visible to make it clear that cars
charged there would be running on
SUNSHINE!!

Of course, that’s just my idea.
Perhaps you can come up with
something even better.

Michael, will you please tell us
the details of this grant, and how
we apply?
