Here’s Williamstown Planning Commission member Martha McGovern’s recommendation for contacting Williamstown city officials: —dawn

Hi, Dawn – I spoke with Paula Rankin this morning. Because email is faster than snail-mail, she recommends sending your comment via email to williamstown at suddenlinkmail.com with To: Mayor, City Council and Planning Commission in the Subject line. That email will go to the Clerk and copies will be distributed to the Mayor Paul Jordan, members of City Council, and members of the Planning Commission. At this time, she doesn’t recommend including the Board of Zoning Appeals.

If you would rather send a letter, you can address it to
Mayor Paul Jordan, Members of City Council and Members of Planning Commission
City of Williamstown
100 West Fifth Street
Williamstown, WV 26187

Hope this is helpful.

Martha

>> The fact that this got shunted to the Planning Commission could be a Godsend. I know one of these members personally as she used to teach at Marietta College professor. Judging by the addresses, most are older folks, which bodes well to the type of entreaties we will be making to think about families and the younger generations and the type of world we want to leave for them.
>>
>> The last meeting where the whole thing got shunted to the Planning Commission, the newspaper article was very specific about the specific number of 'yays' and 'nays' they had received with regard to the variance, so it is EXTREMELY important that they get as many 'nay' letters as possible from the most diverse group of people possible.
>>
>> I will plumb my list of contacts for people who would be willing to write, and it would be great if all of us would do the same. Below is the link to the City Page, and as you can see, the notice of the upcoming streamed Planning Commission meeting is in bold font.
>>
>> You can bet that Chris is getting her army to write to these members as well since the whole issue is much more out in the open now since the article in the Times.

Anyone want to rent a vacant storefront and start another church?

At the top of the comment, i asked that it be shared with the mayor, all members of city council, the board of zoning appeals, and the planning commission. I’m assuming the city’s office manager or city council clerk (or some such employee) complied with my request, but I don’t know.

Maybe the existing “casino” owners are potential allies here. Sounds like they might have the money to put up a stink.
