It's been a month since we made the decision to not go anywhere and not accept visitors. What have I learned as each day is absorbed by the next?
 
My first lesson came when others I love wanted to join us here at Blue Rock Station, but I found myself saying, “No!”.  This was strange to me, as we have always welcomed people into our home, a place of refuge and healing.  Now the safety lies in staying away from each other.
 
My second lesson has been more of a growing awareness. As time has passed, I'm less interested in “working.”  It seems like I should want to work, because I love what I do.
 
Perhaps it is just the strangeness of our collective situation that has sapped some of my motivation.  I think I'll just eat some waffles and plan my garden.  I hope soon the rain will stop and the flowers emerge.  .

Where's the silver lining in all of this?
 




This week's silver lining is that staying home has become the “new normal” for loads of folks that have, up until now, primarily used their homes as just a place to sleep.
 
People are turning to their own sense of creativity with Zoom meet ups with friends and family, game nights online, making face masks, sharing craft ideas and so much more.

I never thought anybody would hear me say this, but I am mighty grateful for our Republican governor, Mike DeWine, who took some tough stands and rallied Ohio to lock down early.
 
In the face of a lot of pressure from his traditional support group, he made the decisions a true leader should make. He has also kept us informed of the evolving situation in a responsible, calm, and adult manner.  We're feeling mighty lucky to have him in a leadership role right now.
