[Green] [possibly spam] Recycling at Red, White, & Blues Fest?

The recycling containers available at Lowes were Blue, labelled on one side, and fairly small (18 gal). I bought one, and bag liners (30 gal). I would have preferred a larger one. I'll bring it; plus, it appears below that we have several. I'll be there for setup, and we can decide on shifts and stations for coverage.
Regards,
Dave

Thanks, George! I think Mike, Adeline, Jim, Debra, and I have it covered. Jay Phillips recommends we arrive around 5:30 to get set up, since doors open at 6. But we don’t ALL need to be there. Music starts at 7.

The plan is to have two recycling stations, which will be near trash receptacles, and our job will be to encourage participants to put aluminum cans, glass bottles, and trash in three separate, tabled bins—in both locations. Mike has cardboard bins with plastic liners. Bonnie Bolen has three large plastic bins that could be used for recycling, and I have one also. There will also be a bucket to collect liquid separate from our recycling bins. All that is to say that we can figure out how best to separate aluminum, glass, and trash between 5:30 and 6.

Debra and Jim have offered to take the first shift; Mike and Adeline said they’d take the second. If you want to help on the early shift—maybe hauling full bags to trucks, that would be swell. I can do the same for the second shift.

Several of us will be bringing trucks.

Thanks to all for your offers of help! I think we have this covered. From the aluminum, we might make a few bucks for the Green Sanctuary Committee’s pocket change fund, and get to listen to some good music while we do so. And, of course, we’ll be encouraging others to recycle natural resources.

I’ll let you know Thursday whether the festival will be inside the Lafayette or in the parking lot.

Friends,

A whole ago, we discussed overseeing recycling at the Red, White, & Blues Fest, which is Friday, July 5, from 6 p.m. probably until midnight or so.

We never committed to this, but I’m willing to take a shift, either from, say, 6 to 9, or 9 until ….? Anyone else willing to help out? My impression is that we stand by the recycling bin(s) and try to prevent trash contamination. Meanwhile, we’d probably get in free (saving a whopping $5), but we’d get to enjoy the music.

If others volunteer to help, I’ll contact the organizers and see if they would still like our help with this.

I don’t remember who proposed that we do this, and I’m sorry we forgot to discuss it at Sunday’s meeting.

Any other volunteers? Please let me know ASAP! I’d say we’d need at least four people to commit to it.
