Randall’s notes on Four Sabras, by Leonard Bernstein:

   -

Sabra: A Jewish person born in Israel, or before 1948 in Palestine
   -

Chassidele: A little Jew, not specifically a student, but in this
   context that applies, too
   -

   Rav: Rabbi

I think the implied story is kind of cute, even humorous; a little
rebellious kid having different theological interpretations and not taking
his teacher's word at face value just because he's an authority figure. Or
maybe "other thoughts" might just refer to typical kid's daydreaming and
mind-wandering.

FUUSM Philosophy of Inclusion

Systems of power, privilege and oppression have traditionally created
barriers for persons in groups with particular identities, ages, abilities
and histories. We pledge to do all we can to replace such barriers with
ever widening circles of solidarity and mutual respect. We strive to be a
congregation that truly welcomes all persons, and commit to structuring our
congregational life in ways that empower and enhance everyone's
participation.

We strive to embody what we hope to see in the world: a just and loving
humanity.

We strive to create:

   -

A place where people are free to be themselves, fully and without fear.
   -

A community where no one is exiled, silenced or exploited because of
age, racial or cultural identity or national origin, gender expression or
identity, sexual or affectional orientation, familial structures or
relationship status, range of physical and mental ability, education or
socioeconomic status, religious background, or political perspective.

We welcome all to share in the fellowship, worship, responsibilities,
leadership, ministry, blessings and joys of our congregation's life.
