Coffee hour volunteers needed

The weekly coffee hour after our worship service is an important part of our regular fellowship. We need more volunteers to help with this event. Some people have opted out recently, but no one yet has opted in. If you are interested in joining this corps, please let me know and include information about any dates in the April-June 2023 period that you will not be available. Thank you. George & Gwen Banziger; 740-434-5685; 740-434-3354 (mobile)

Committee Fair March 26

On Sunday, March 26, during coffee hour, representatives of FUUSM committees will be at tables to answer questions of prospective new committee members. FUUSM operates primarily on volunteer power, and we hope all of our members and friends will connect with at least one committee and commit a donation of their time, talents, and energy to keeping FUUSM moving forward.

Annual FUUSM Service Auction!!

Save the date: 6 p.m., Friday, March 31, at The Gathering Place, on Seventh St.

Yep, it's that time again, time to get creative and come up with a great service/event/activity to put on the block. Here are some ideas to get you started:

a.. Do you have a hobby that others might like to learn about? An art or craft that you can teach to others?
b.. Are you a baker? Do you have a signature dish you can offer?
c.. Do you enjoy hosting? How about a game night/charades/cards/puzzles?
d.. Pet sitting? Leaf raking? Vehicle detailing? Window washing? Decluttering? Painting?
Speaking of decluttering... We also welcome quality antiques and works of art, jewelry, unique home and garden decor, useful household/garage items, etc. All items should be in very good to excellent condition. Components of the event will be a live auction, a silent auction, and a “country store.” Please inform Cindy Brown (lablibn at gmail.com) of items and services you plan to donate for the live and silent auctions by Friday, March 24. Save your less-valuable-but-still-desirable items for the country store. Contact Dawn Hewitt at hewitt at earth-maker.com or (812) 320-3449) arrange deliver of donations.

Mid-Ohio Valley Climate Action presents The Inflation Reduction Act – Transition to a Clean Economy, 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023

In Person: First UU Society of Marietta, 232 Third St, Marietta, OH, and On Zoom at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/88645044340?pwd=M0cya1IyNDBqTHRIYnlvOVBlZFVzZz09

The IRA was signed into law in August of 2022, but many of us still don’t know much about it. As the provisions of the bill begin to roll out, this presentation offers an ideal opportunity to learn how this legislation will affect us--individual citizens--and our economy, with tools to help us face a changing climate. Guest Presenter Perry Bryant has a degree in Sociology from Fairmont State University and did graduate work in Public Administration at West Virginia University. He retired from West Virginia Education Association, and founded West Virginians for Affordable Health Care. WVAHC is a public interest, nonprofit organization that represents the interest of consumers in the health care debate. After retiring from WVAHC, Perry founded the West Virginia Climate Alliance, a broad-base coalition working on climate change. Perry was the principal author of a Citizens’ Guide to Climate Change: The Causes, Impacts and Potential Solutions. He also wrote A Summary of the Inflation Reduction Act.
