For this Sunday, May 29,2022, we will discuss two essays.

Tim Smith, How Politics Poisoned the Evangelical Church
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MEkKhhBQZekdMzCuQ2KgTvoOniuAbqfG-Hp0bafENo8/edit?usp=sharing>,
from the June Atlantic Magazine. This is a long essay, 19 pages, but if
you just read the first three pages you get the basic points, maybe then
skip to the last page. An alternative, and much shorter, essay on the same
topic is As a ‘Seismic Shift’ Fractures Evangelicals, an Arkansas Pastor
Leaves Home
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bGkb8Gw7CqX8JxX1TqXBoMeEz152Uw3VudhCT_oQ88Q/edit?usp=sharing>
by Ruth Graham from the May 9 NY Times. Both essays are worth reading.

Anne Applebaum, Ukraine and the Words that Lead to Mass Murder
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LfyL9jXkGk8BFnqNqo07m_7DKnEdccBaPwjs2KQoo_0/edit?usp=sharing>,
>From the June Atlantic Magazine This compares the murders of Ukrainians
today to the mass starvation engineered by the Bolsheviks after the Russian
revolution.
