Sun. May 16 - "A Day In a Life, A Life In a Day" Reflection by Katy McDaniel Worship Leader: Suzyn Mills
Did you have the experience over the last 14 months of feeling like days were repeating, everything seeming the same, day after day? This year I happened to catch the movie Groundhog Day (again), and it had new meaning for me after our pandemic experience. How do we look forward amid the repetition and sameness? We can look at each day as a life in itself, and each life as merely a day in our larger existence. Lessons from Buddhism also help us to see how, even with so little time within each life, we can transform ourselves and effect incremental change that brings us closer to the profound love of others and of life itself. - Katy McDaniel FUUSM member Kathryn N. McDaniel is Andrew U. Thomas Professor of History and outgoing chair of the Department of History, Philosophy, and Religion at Marietta College. • Green Sanctuary Committee meeting, 12:30 p.m. on Zoom

The Cherish ALL Life Project You’re invited to make a mini movie on your phone to investigate this years’ theme question: How can we be mindful and authentic in cherishing all life? I am asking members and friends to make a short movie, so we as viewers can experience the life of the one who creates the movie. Photos are welcome and will be in the final product but try a short movie. Send your movie to me – Jane Tumas-Serna (jtumas.serna at gmail.com)
LOOKING AHEAD
Sunday, May 30 OUTSIDE ACTIVITY - Join us after the service in the Memorial Garden in the Courtyard with
healthy spacing and masks as we gather to honor our FUUSM people who have served, died, and are remembered
Sunday June 6, 2021 Flower Communion ~ Live Service and Ceremony.
Bring your flower or plant to share in this annual exchange as we build a community bouquet.
The Flower Communion will be different this year. Safety measures (sign-in, masks and healthy spacing) will be followed, and everyone is invited to bring a flower from home. (Extras will be available, and are welcome if you have some to bring). The gathered bouquet is a symbol of diversity. In the entry way, the congregation will contribute and create bouquets in vases, that will be brought forward during the service. We will use the aisles for healthy spacing as
we exit in one direction, taking a different flower from the display to carry it home. The Zoom aspect will not be
the focus of this service, but will be available. There will also be a Flower Meditation (slideshow).

Good news! In case you haven’t heard, everyone across the country – 16 years of age & older – is now eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. This applies to all U.S. States, Territories and the District of Columbia.
If you haven’t gotten a COVID-19 vaccine yet, do so as soon as you can. Getting vaccinated is an important tool to help end the pandemic, and it’s your best protection from getting COVID-19. We can do this!
Everyone-whether you have health insurance or not, can get a vaccine at no cost. It’s free! We’re all in this together.
