Masks are required. Please call before you come to the Office (740) 373-1238) and sign in and out each time you enter any of the buildings. At the beginning of our gathering, we will be share a short video, the same one that Elsa Lamba shared one afternoon in 1984, the first time a woman was nominated for vice-president. (Let's see if anyone else remembers it!) If you can, I am asking each of us to share one good change that has occurred since 1984.

Restoring Ruins of Generations Worship Leader: Rev. Kathryn Hawbaker
We have seen a heartening rise in voted engagement, and a disturbing rise in violence and polarization. Let’s address issues of power and authority in our democratic institutions, with truth and reason as our guides. One basic definition of racism presented by Dr. William Jones is prejudice plus power. There has been increased visibility and attention to marginalized voices and views, but further education and conversation is needed if we are to keep moving forward.
What have we learned from the Black Lives Matter movement, and how shall we move forward in our work to dismantle white supremacy culture? What was your response when the Marietta College Holiday Tree gave rise to criticism, and what of different standards applied by police dealing with protestors? What insights have been meaningful in your efforts to be anti-racist?
