*For this Sunday, July 29, 2018, the Today’s Issues group will have a slide
presentation by Ernie Novak on the art of Alberto Giacometti, subject of a
major exhibition at the Guggenheim in New York. We will then discuss the
implications of the likely ideological changes on the US Supreme Court.

*For Giacometti, the reading is by Peter Schjeldahl, “Giacometti’s Skinny
Sublimity,” from the June 18 issue of The New Yorker magazine. You can
find the article at

is better than my emailing the text since it includes several
illustrations. For the Supreme Court, we will read Noah Feldman, “Tipping
the Scales,” from the July 19th issue of the New York Review of Books.

reading and join our lively discussion. *
