Board of Trustees 2017/ 2018 Annual Report
Each Board member is elected for a three-year term, and 2 consecutive 3-year terms are allowed which can be extended. Board members are given liaison assignments so that they can observe, (connect and) communicate with, and report on each FUUSM committee. Following are the names, terms, office held,
and liaison assignments for the current board membership:
George Banziger : (2015-18) Finance, Community Meal, Interfaith Dialogue
Paul Dunn: (2017-20) Membership, Caring, Visitation

Emily Keller: Secretary: (2016-19): Nominating
Shari Miller: President: (2016-19) Piano Task Force, Worship & Music, Green Sanctuary.
Rev . Kat Hawbaker, serves as an ex-officio member. She attends every meeting and submits her
Minister's report beforehand to the Board members.
Treasurer Linda Lawton, also attends every meeting and submits her reports (profit-and-loss statements
for the month and for year-to-date, and balance sheet) beforehand.
The Board usually holds its monthly meeting on the fourth Tuesday (6:30-8:30 pm) in the Parlor. At each meeting the Board reviewed the profit & loss statements and balance sheet presented by the Treasurer and reviewed recommendations of the Finance Committee regarding budget issues.
August 19th of 2017 the board met for a summer retreat. Goals were discussed, and Shari Miller agreed to be the president. George Banziger, agreed to help with that transition.
On September 24th of 2017 a congregational meeting was held to go over major renovations. The expenses were approved and building and grounds
went forward with the project. Golden Rule again offered to advance funding for additional solar panels. This was approved with the blessings of the solar energy committee. The panels were installed in December of 2017.
Building and Grounds came before the board to ask for additional expenses be granted to cover unforeseen problems with the floor and walls of the Sanctuary. The board approved this.
There has been great discussion on the security of our members and friends. This is an ongoing topic and work is at hand to set up a plan of action for this. A special class, was presented by Brady Stephens, on the 27th of March to learn how to set to set this into motion. Board members and members
of UU attended.
On the 30th of March, the board met to discuss items for the following year. It has been decided that there will be a special collection once a month
that will be split between the church and a selected social need.
The Board sends a monthly service recognition/appreciation to a member or friend who has done exemplary service in the previous month.
It also selects a person to receive the annual congregational service recognition at the annual meeting.
