*Active Hope Winter Series*

/"While experience equips us well for dealing with familiar situations,
our imagination is essential in formulating creative responses to new
challenges." /Joanne Macy

Stay tuned for the Active Hope Winter series (read the book: Active Hope
by Joanna Macy & Chris Johnstone). Any day now the exact date and
location in Marietta Ohio, will be released. For now be thinking about
how you might participate either on ZOOM (starting Tuesday, January 30th
for five weeks) or in person (starting the first week of March for five
weeks).

Details: The Premiere Zoom class is our gift to you. There is a fee for
the in-person class (to be determined) and scholarships are available.
Childcare may be available based on the ages pf the children. Classes
will last approximately 2.5 hours (6:30 pm to 9 pm) with possible
discussion after the regularly scheduled time. The plan is to create a
listserv or social media page so that participants have a way to connect
after the five-week class.

Leaders: Rev. Hilary Krivchenia (retired UU minister) and Annie Warmke
(activist)

If you're itching to get started or to learn more take a listen to these
two webinar/podcasts (also audiotapes are available for both) I've found
interesting.

Active Hope: How to Face the book by Joanna Macy
<https://www.thriftbooks.com/w/active-hope-how-to-face-the-mess-were-in-without-going-crazy_joanna-macy_chris-johnstone/360539/>,
Ph.D. and Dr. Chris Johnstone

The challenges we face can be difficult even to think about. Climate
change, war, political polarization, economic upheaval, and the dying
back of nature together create a planetary emergency of overwhelming
proportions. This revised, tenth-anniversary edition of Active Hope
shows us how to strengthen our capacity to face these crises so that we
can respond with unexpected resilience and creative power. Drawing on
decades of teaching an empowerment approach known as the Work That
Reconnects, (WTR), the authors guide us through a transformational
process informed by mythic journeys, modern psychology, spirituality,
and holistic science. This process equips us with tools to face the mess
we’re in and play our role in the collective transition, or Great
Turning, to a life-sustaining society.
