Explanation of Worship & Music Requests for 2020-2021
1. Music, Other: Costs of sheet music and downloads for last year were $425.
2. Piano Maintenance: Because we have switched to the electronic piano, only the Sanctuary piano will require tuning twice per year for a total of $270.
3. Worship Program:
· Although we have had outside guest speakers in 2019-20, they have often declined the stipend or have asked that the funds be donated to a cause, sometimes within the FUUSM organization. We are requesting the proposed amount so that we have the flexibility to schedule diverse music and voices.
· Part of the pianist's compensation is four paid Sundays off. Music is so critical to the worship service that we have often needed to pay a substitute pianist $100 for each of those Sundays. However, we also cope creatively in ways that do not have any cost.
4. The position of Choir Director is now contractual.
5. Worship Supplies:
· The Worship & Music Committee will continue to improve the audio and video capabilities that support our services.
· The Committee has established an Aesthetics Task Team and a Storage Team. We realize that they need a budget to acquire resources for beautification of the Sanctuary and for appropriate organization/storage of supplies.
· Concerns about fire safety have led us to discontinue use of open flames in the church and RE building. Thus, the funding for candles has been reduced. We foresee, however, that we will need to purchase oil for the chalice and replacement battery-operated candles.
