Randy was there for at least part of the meeting--not sure if he was among those of us having internet problems.

Martha, I don’t believe Randy was in attendance at the meeting, but Ralph was with us instead. Other than that, minutes look perfect.

Minutes of April 1, 2020 Meeting of the Worship & Music Committee
In attendance: Adeline Bailey, Rev. Kat Hawbaker, Martha McGovern, Suzyn Mills, Jane Tumas-Serna, Randall Kidder, Rebecca Phillips, Nancy Luthy, Maggie Meyer
Next Meeting – May 6 Watch for Invitation to Zoom meeting
1. Proposed Budget for 2020-2021: See email sent separately. (The proposal has been sent to Nancy Luthy and Andrea Bone.)
2. Novak Special Fund for the Music Department
The Committee needs clarification of the Novak Special Fund for the Music Department.
· Is the money invested and earning interest?
· Has any of the fund been spent already?
· The Committee recommends that some funds go toward buying sheet music for all the choir members. Such action would honor copyright laws, show respect for composers and arrangers, and establish a library for Choir music.
· We realize that the purchase would cost about $75 per piece. Therefore, we suggest that the Choir Director be permitted to request money from the Novak Special Fund to cover costs beyond those budgeted.
1. Annual Report: Martha asked members to review draft that was sent and give feedback. She’ll prepare the final copy and submit it.
2. Theme for 2019-2020: How do we address the paradox of “We”?
3. Goal of Maintaining Sense of Community: Members were in agreement that use of fuusmchat, women’s and men’s group lists, Confluence, Weekly Updates, and Zoom for meditation are functioning well. Nancy Luthy will discuss use of Call Tree with Board at upcoming meeting.
4. Spiritual Support: Members agreed that Randy’s musical sharing (Tuesdays, Sundays) via fuusm-l has been very well received. Meditation via Zoom and fuusmchat have been effective. Martha reported effectiveness of Church of the Larger Fellowship service and suggested local Zoom follow-up discussions. Committee members suggested that such discussions could follow our FUUSM worship offerings as well; Zoom hosts could be identified and 8 people could sign up for particular group (total 9 participants).
5. Virtual Worship Services:
Ralph Olander offered some options for virtual worship preparation and delivery.
The Committee committed to taking responsibility and/or to collaborating with Kat for one or two services per month.
