Hello, W&M committee,
I'm calling our email meeting to order.  Minutes from December would
indicate the following items for discussion:
1. Minutes of December meeting.
/I approve them. You?/
2. Correspondence.
/Not aware of any./
3. Report from Special Task Teams.
Aesthetics Team:
/a. I hear there is progress on shelving and bins, as well as a start on
putting things away. Deco will stay up until after Jan. 6, as already
stated. Outside decor taken down last Sunday.
/
/b. Someone located more descriptions for the Sanctuary displays. (Not
I! Never found any old copies)/
Special Music:/
/
/a. Consort will play a small set in addition to prelude, meditation,
offertory, and will involve choir members and congregation in singing
the "Gloucester Wassail" as a postlude. Randy will play hymns. Hoping
Kat will cover Epiphany. Cynthia Ting will share info about the 12th
Night tradition and the VRC's history and involvement with 12th Night.
/
/b. I believe Suzyn is trying to schedule Tria/Quadra for end of January
or sometime in February. Suzyn?
/
/c. New: We should try to schedule the young cellist for a service soon./
Worship Associates:
/List for January Confluence was incomplete. Suggestions for more WAs? /
Piano Task Force:
/Electronic piano moved to opposite side of Sanctuary - for Christmas tree?/
Technology Task Force:
/a. New TV has been delivered and will be available for Jan. 27 service
(Rob McManus, guest speaker)/
/b. Storage cabinet/box - ongoing discussion. Storage Committee and B&G
involvement??/
/c. New: Secure holder (box) for laptop downstairs. Old computer will be
removed./
Time for All Ages:/
/
4. Coordination with Buildings and Grounds.
/Maggie?/
5. Expenditures
/Martha? Kat?/
6. Assessment of service
/Most recent is the Fire Communion, November 30th./
/Except for the new song the congregation couldn't sing without the
words, went well, IMHO./
/Meaningful way to close out the year, good participation, smooth enough
process, and lighting a candle of hope was very positive. But burning
paper is not really a pleasant odor. Loved the dragon story and the
dragon - I liked having it in the back, although not as dramatic as
rising from the choir box. Having the kids interact with it "for luck"
was great./
7. Campaign for purchase of teal hymnals
/?? Need to discuss./
8. Services for December- March:
*Kat *will contact Jann Adams about being speaker*on March 10.*
*Martha *will contact Melissa Jeter about service*on February 24 or date
in March.**
*
9. Theme for Year 2018-2019: “How can we inspire leaders for a complex
world?”[Try inductive approach and re-cap]
The Committee agreed to use #592 The Free Mind by William Ellery
Channing as the guiding reading for the thematic year.
