Off the top of my head...
It's Art month?
What is art.....I have a story....a couple of years ago I submitted a poem
to The Riverside Artists Gallery....it was selected by some artist to
inspire a work of art. I was thrilled....they have the art show and
poetry reading and I see the art work that was inspired by my poem......I'm
totally clueless some weird abstract dark thing....I can't imagine what it
has to do with my poem.
I have a friend who loves the poem....the poem is called Capernaum. She
and her husband visit Israel and go to Capernaum.
She takes a picture of the remains of the synogogue there...She
superimposes a copy of my poem (It's only 3 lines) on the photo, puts it in
a beautiful frame and sends it to me as a present. I hang it in my dining
room.
Fast forward 3 or 4 years. I get to know Geoff Schenkel. He and his wife
Alice come to my house for dinner. Geoff excuses himself to go to the
bathroom...as he passes the picture he turns and says, "I KNOW THAT
POEM.".....What ? I say...I don't think it''s been published
anywhere.....he tells me that HE is the artist that choose my poem at the
Riverside Artist's Gallery.....I start laughing and explain how I saw the
picture and was totally clueless.....
So why do we celebrate art? What is art? Geoff Schenkel can speak to
this...
What is poetry??? Who the heck knows.
LINK TO EKPHRASIS (poetry about art)...

"*Ekphrasis* is writing about any art form, but in its modern usage,
ekphrasis generally refers to poetry that reflects on visual art, and most
often painting."
I'm sure there's lots of poems about art.
