Please note Action Items, especially question about services for July 2 and 9, and other services for July and August. 



Minutes for May 3, 2017  Meeting of the Worship & Music Committee 

In Attendance: Adeline Bailey, Peg Clifford, Rev Kat Hawbaker, Martha McGovern, Shari Miller, Suzyn Mills, 

  1.. Minutes of the April meeting were approved.  
  2.. Correspondence:  Adeline and Martha reported that thank you notes have been sent to recent presenters.   Martha will send a note to the Aesthetics Team. 
  3.. Reports from Specific Task Teams:  
    1.. Aesthetics Team:  Nancy Lee, Gillian Harrison, and Jane Tumas-Serna have installed a Tree of Life for the spring months. 
    2.. Special Music Team: Suzyn will check expectations of the Hungrytown group. 
    3.. Worship Associates Team:  New members -- Andrew Clovis, Amy Miller, Gene Barry, and Dawn Hewitt + Peg Clifford   Martha will send the Summer WA Checklist to new Worship Associates and will revise the Welcome.  Adeline will coordinate with Greeters/Host so that people are made aware of the large print materials and hearing enhancement devices before they enter the sanctuary. 
    4.. Piano Task Force:  
    5.. Technology Task Force:  The Committee noted that the FUUSM technology support folks.serve the whole congregation in many ways and are not attached to a specific group or committee. W & M suggests that they be given explicit thanks and that a report of their activities be submitted annually and included in the Annual Meeting.    Martha and Kat will pass the suggestion to the Board.

  4.. New Lamp for Piano:  Shari reported that the new lamp is working well. 
  5.. As a follow-up on the workshop in Pittsburgh, Saturday, April 8, 2017 on the topic of "Designing Worship like a Filmmaker," Kat, Randall, and Peg have tried some innovations in the services.  Kat will schedule and plan a brainstorming session for Sunday, June 11, 12:30-2:00 p.m. 
  6.. Budget -Proposed Budget for 2017-18  Expenditures from 2016-17 Budget:  4/13/17 - $176 for candles, $75 to Circles Campaign 
  7.. Re-Usable Folder:  Kat and Adeline will pilot its use during the summer.  The pamphlet has been  updated, also.  Kat and Adeline will share the revised folder at the next meeting. 
  8.. Theme for Year 2017-2018 will be "How do we create the world of our values?" 
  9.. Possible Topics and speakers for future services:  Tibetan Monks, Touchstone REACH Packet, Hungry Town, multiple intelligences, powerful children's stories, ages of women, This I Believe, family stories as carriers of family values, June Teenth celebration, reflections of people who grew up in UU congregation (Jay Phillips, Mike Bailey, Dean Banziger), Bill Bauer on suicide and kindness,  reflections of former ministers, Jim Couts on Jubilee Gardens, LeeAnn Gallucci on recovering from loss, Living Mindfully - Prepare for the Unexpected (Robin Bozian, Anita Newhart, Sue Montera, Virginia Mayle), anti-bullying and Shari's Flower Story, Quill as a storyteller, Quakers on consensus. 
Mark Sibicky on mindset/habits of mind needed for democracy - Martha -- contact again in Summer or September 2017
