Agenda for November 2, 2016  Meeting of the Worship & Music Committee 

  1.. Minutes of the October meeting to be approved. 
  2.. Correspondence:  Shari   Patricia Shelden - workshops & service 
  3.. Workshop & Worship Service by Patricia Shelden - Kat 
  4.. Martha  -- draft of Confluence article for January 2017 for feedback from the Committee members. 
  5.. Reports from Specific Task Teams:  
    1.. Sanctuary Decoration Team:  Thanks to Jane Tumas-Serna for the backdrop for the Day of the Dead and November services.  Shari Miller -- Women's Group about decoration of the Sanctuary for the Holidays.  November 30:  3:00 p.m. to decorate, 6:00 p.m. for potluck  Martha - Men's Group (Gary Hamilton) about decoration of the outside of the church  
    2.. Special Music Team:  Suzyn 
    3.. Piano Task Force:  Suzyn will contact Joe Baker to clarify membership of this group.      
    4.. Technology Task Force:  1)  Ralph Olander and Mike Bailey will investigate device for smooth transmission of images from the computer to the TV as well as an updated projector.  2)  Ralph has provided guidelines for providing recorded in-gathering and sending music in the desired format.  Adeline will publish the guidelines in The Confluence for November.  He can use music from a CD or mp3 player.  The music can be played from the mp3 player on a phone or ipod.  He requests a one- or two-day notice; that's notification on a Friday or Saturday for a Sunday service. 
    5.. Task Force for the Time for All Ages:  Shari Miller, Kerry Blair, Dawn Weidner, Cindy Burton, Diane McMichael, Adeline Bailey, and Ron Tepley.  (Rachel Hyde, Gwen Banziger -- possible additions)  
    6.. De-clutter Corps: (Contact - Wendy Morey)   Kat will talk with the Board to see where the De-clutter Corps fits in the organizational chart so that communication and decision-making are systematic.  
  6.. Music stands:  Suzyn 
  7.. Selection of Specific Lamp for Piano:  Shari will work with Randy to bring this project to completion. 
  8.. Expenses:  Request $75 for Karen Kumpf for Nov. 13 service, $150 for Paula Ewers from Dayton for November 6 service 
  9.. Cards to Community Workshop - John:  help with delivery of the cards to the area establishments.  
  10..   FUUSM attire -- John t-shirts, expansion of options? profits to the Piano Task Force fund? 
  11.. Next Meetings:  Dec. 7, January 4 - Who will preside, prepare agenda, take minutes?? 
  12.. Theme for Year 2016-17:  "What does democracy look like?" 
  13.. Possible Topics and speakers for future services:  multiple intelligences, powerful children's stories, ages of women, This I Believe, family stories as carriers of family values, June Teenth celebration, reflections of people who grew up in UU congregation (Jay Phillips, Mike Bailey, Dean Banziger), Bill Bauer on suicide and kindness,  reflections of former ministers, Jim Couts on Jubilee Gardens, LeeAnn Gallucci on recovering from loss, Jeff Danner (mjwd58 at yahoo.com) theological topic of choice, Living Mindfully - Prepare for the Unexpected (Robin Bozian, Anita Newhart, Sue Montera, Virginia Mayle), anti-bullying and Shari's Flower Story, Quill as a storyteller, Quakers on consensus.

Bayan Sibaii on perspective of Syrians - Martha invited her to October 30 meeting of the group planning for welcome of Syrian refugees.  That meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m. at FUUSM.
