Jane; Your words echo my thoughts when I saw the conversation that
followed the get together. I was completely confused about the
controversy, especially since bringing your own stuff lessons the load
on everyone. That siad, it's difficult to understand how quickly
something that is written, and may not even be meaning to inflict a
harsh intention, can be taken in a way that can be hurtful.
I love the suggestion you made by asking what does it mean to be a
host? I think there was something that was posted quite awhile ago that
had some guidelines. I carry my own silverware in a little packet that
is kept in the car because it stops me from needing to use plastic or
inflict work on others (I get really anxious if I feel I have caused
others to work harder because of me). Perhaps we can re-visit the idea
of what it means to be a host, if someone has a copy.
