[Women] Women's group

My two cents: the issue of where to hold women’s group was debated, oh, almost 30 years ago. Although meeting at homes is lovely, I always preferred the fellowship hall because there was never any confusion about time and location. This also makes it easier for for anyone (newcomers?) who is not in the loop to make it. All they needed to do was note the time and date and show up. Sometimes the process got so personal it felt more like a private club than an open meeting.

Perhaps we can think of ways to make the fellowship hall feel more intimate. I used to hold some meetings in the nursery because it was cozier. Perhaps we could start check-in with a candle lighting and a reading or something, just to set the tone.

It’s the people that matter, not the setting.

If bringing my own plate makes it easier on the hostess then I’m all for it. During last month’s meeting I observed women happily wandering in and out of the kitchen with their dishes instead of one or two people slogging through the whole mess. It felt better.

Shalom,
Maureen
