Bon Jour to all of you: I think spring will finally arrive this week -
by that I mean the temperature will be bearable again. It's been a
mighty long winter.
I've been in lock down for 9 weeks now. During that time I've developed
a routine to go forest bathing with my goats at least three times a
week. The rhythm of my life has become familiar again and that's helped
me to deal with goat deaths, a paralyzed wether, and a close friend who
is working through breast cancer. It's such a challenge not to show up
and care for her. Instead I asked if I could attend to her spiritual
needs. At her suggestion, starting in two weeks I am hoping that some
of their friends will sign up to send them a meme, a joke, a book title
or some music so that they are reminded to practice real self-care.
As for a woman that inspired me: there are too many to mention. This
winter though two of my friends, Joyce Hill and Alyssa Van Gun have been
remarkable in their friendship. They've put food in the barn for us,
baked us desserts, brought home made masks, sent words of encouragement,
and lastly figure out how to reconfigure a junked baby carriage so my
crippled goat has a way to practice walking again. The love that I feel
just thinking of them gives me nourishment on the days when I miss
seeing my granddaughter or feel like it would be great to go on a picnic
somewhere besides here.
I also miss FUUSM, but I have truly enjoyed the Wed. noon meditation,
and the Goddess class. It was really fun working with Suzyn Mills to
put together a church service. And my peacock, Rumi, came home to
roost. Sex and food are big draws and I finally won. Next goal: feed
him closer and closer to the new peafowl structure so that when he sees
those peahens he goes right in to mate with them. I can almost see baby
chicks in my future. Love, Annie
