Thanks you Cindy for the invitation to have us all at your home this wednesday. I’m not sure at this moment if I will attend, but I want you all to know how much I enjoy enriching my life by engaging with all of you. I appreciate the topic and particularly the question - How have broke/reading influenced your life? I’ve lived with dyslexia all my life (but didn’t know that was what it was or much about it until I became an adult) and reading books was challenging, and keeping up with academic demands ( and doing well, which was expected in my home up bring) was exhausting, stressful, and………. Looking back, I am amazed that somehow I was able to later do research and documentation and co-author a book on Appalachian White Oak basketmaking and have it published by the University of Tenn. Press in 1991. Another story, for another time.

Aside from reading WORDS and books, I treasure all the other ways I’ve learned to READ and the joys it brings to my life. I’m REALLY excited about my recent observations of my butterflyweed and what I’ve learned with observations of the caterpillars of the monarch butterfly… butterflies.. and what I’ve learned!!! Got some GREAT photos to share with you there, too.

Cindy and all, the topic selected instantly brought the strong memory of speaking at my father’s memorial service several years ago. I spoke about "READING with Dad" - Later I was asked to share that again and gradually transcribed what I had said and added more of an explanation so that I felt more comfortable shared the story. I’m attaching what I wrote/said. I smile with the memories, and hope you do too.. Thanks for sharing and giving me the opportunity to know you all,

Cindy Taylor
