[Men] FW: Meeting invite - Reminder

At our last meeting we agreed that the Men's Group would prepare a service
for the church as a whole, and I agreed to coordinate this with Martha
McGovern.  We have settled on March 14 as the date.  I volunteered to
coordinate this, and I hope to recruit a few volunteers at the meeting
tonight.

Martha and I have agreed that the Men's Group will select/share a reading
and present the Reflection. The Worship Leader will prepare the other
elements of the service.

The overall theme for the year is supposed to be "cherishing all life".
Martha suggests that: "isn’t the fact that you create a setting in which
individuals can express their concerns and the challenges they are facing
and are truly listened to related to being mindful and authentic?  Aren’t
all members/friends of FUUSM welcomed?  That seems to touch on cherishing
of all life."  Also, our volunteering to do chores for the church ("leaf
raking, holiday lights, etc.) is relevant, she suggests: "Why do the men
help?  Aren’t some projects related to care of the Earth, the community,
the congregation?"



As I see it, what we need are perhaps three volunteers to speak about what
the Men's Group means to them and/or to the church community.  Some of the
members who have been most active in organizing the group and the work
projects would be most appropriate, e.g., Roger, Darrel, Gary.  One thing
we would like to do is recruit some of the men who belong to the church but
haven't come to our men's activities. We also need a reading, I can search
for one unless one of you has something in mind.   We might also want to do
some kind of remembrance of Ron Tepley as part of the service, realling his
role in our group.  I assume the service will be in Zoom, given how the
pandemic is going.


I am sending this email to encourage you to give this a little thought
before the meeting tonight.  If you have other ideas, that's great.  I just
promised to pull it together, I don't have strong feelings about the
content.
