I can help out on whatever day you settle on. There's a risk my back will
be acting up, but right now it is ok. I don't have a pickup truck, just a
Subaru Outback.
I'm concerned that we're talking about multiple pickup truck loads of
stuff. When we did this for his last move, the hardest part was finding a
place to dispose of stuff. We ended up getting Dan Harrison to take it, it
would be good if you could contact him again.
It is hard emotionally to dispose of one's lifetime collection of
belongings, but we should try to store as little as possible unless we have
some idea of where it is going after being stored. There is a lot of stuff
that is valuable for sentimental or personal reasons, but has negative
monetary value. When I helped move my son out of his house in Maryland, we
had to pay a company to dispose of a lot of his belongings. (he was moving
to Hong Kong at the time). Maybe it is easier in this area than it was in
the DC area, but I suspect you have to pay to dispose of stuff. You can
also pay for storage, of course, there are storage places all over. But
you can't just leave it there forever unless you can pay forever. If we
leave his stuff in someone's barn, that person will probably eventually
have to clear it out.
I'd be willing to chip in to help pay for some disposal costs. Paying for
a service might be better than relying on our aging group of volunteers.
