Good morning, Greenies,

In case you missed the news, the Fort Street Pollinator Habitat is being prepared for a minor redesign requiring the removal of many specimens of the larger species of plants and a relocation of some of the smaller species. Volunteers will be meeting at 9:00 AM this Saturday, October 12, to remove as many as possible.

These are not bad plants, just too enthusiastic to play well with some of our other choices. If you have (or are considering installing) a native plant area on your property, anything you dig can be yours. The species up for grabs include cup plant, New England aster, Drummond's aster, one of the white asters (I no longer remember which one), sawtooth sunflower, and probably others that I do not remember. In terms of non-natives, the species cannas in the memorial garden area also need to be thinned, along with some of the bearded irises.

I hope to see some of you at the habitat on Saturday!

Rebecca
