[Green] Fwd: Exciting Recycling Update!

Here's a notice from Rumpke about a change to their recycling pick-up
service: They now accept clear plastic clamshell containers!!  Whoa!!!
That means instead of putting them in a blue plastic laundry basket with
the label "1,2,4 and 5 plastic containers," such containers should now be
put in the big green rectangular bin, along with glass jars and bottles,
cardboard and paper, steel cans, and plastic tubs (such as yogurt and Cool
Whip containers). Plastic bags and aluminum will still need to go into the
blue plastic laundry baskets with those labels. Still, this is great news
and really simplifies recycling. Sort of.* Plastics with the recycling
symbol and number 3,6, and 7 are still TRASH*; and plastics that aren't
tubs or clear clamshells will still need to go into the blue plastic
laundry basket labeled "1,2,4 and 5 plastic containers," (which the
Marietta Area Recycling Center accepts). Plastic silverware is not
recyclable unless it bears the recycling symbol with 1,2,4 or 5. So, yeah,
it's still complicated. I'm sorry.

Note: Even though Rumpke accepts aluminum, the Green Sanctuary Committee
collects and sells it to a recycling service--providing an income for our
committee, so we don't have to request funding in the FUUSM budget.
