[Green] Fwd: Fwd: Net Meter Information

I discussed this at the GSC meeting yesterday--why FUUSM's electric bills
are so high even when our solar generation exceeds power we draw from the
grid. Bless Jay Warmke for helping us with this. If he is right (and I
assume he is) AEP might just owe us hundreds of dollars. The church lady
will pursue this in her spare time--hopefully in the next few weeks,
starting tomorrow. (Tuesdays are usually least busy).

This response is utter nonsense. There is no possibility that what they
are doing is legal and a complaint should be made to the Public Utilities
Commission and to the newspapers (if there is such a thing anymore).

They are claiming that they must charge for transmission and distribution -
even if no power is purchased. Well, first off - that is a new claim in my
books and I have not seen it before, but it is consistent with AEP's
attempt to try to stop solar unless they own it. I would be surprised if
that was a provision in the original contract signed by FUUSM.

But even if this is the case...

FUUSM received 930 kWh delivered for the month. They were charged $90.18
for transmission and $143.79 for distribution.

$143.79 + $90.18 = $233.97 / 930 kWh = 25.16 cents per kWh

The current rate for commercial electricity is between 12 - 20 cents per
kWh. So even though you did not buy any electricity (since you netted out)
- you still paid more than the cost of electricity for the distribution and
transmission. No chance.

They may claim that you have to pay for distribution and transmission for
what you feed back onto the grid - which is also nonsense. That power is
consumed by your next door neighbor who is no doubt paying for the
distribution and transmission of the power that is traveling 30 feet. No
double dipping allowed.

So whoever is feeding you this information is simply either a corporate
stooge or lying.

Jay

Well. I appreciate AEP getting back to me with this explanation--that we
still have to pay distribution and transmission costs for electricity we
get off the grid--even if we make more electricity than we use during the
month. So, if we use electricity when our panels aren't working (cloudy
days, at night, etc.), we are taking from the grid--and must pay for
distribution and transmission. And those fees are really high!

Good afternoon,

Judson asked we email some documentation on solar billing for the location
of 232 3RD ST, Marietta, OH.

When an account is net metered, the credits apply to the generation line
item. I have indicated this in green on the bill image. If the account does
not have more received than we delivered, you will not see this line item
under AEPOhio as you have a Supplier that bills for that line item.
Indicated in blue on the image of the bill is the billable usage. Any
amount you give us is deducted before we bill, and we let your provider
know the billable usage so they can bill generation correctly.

Net Metering is only for generation services. If you generate more power
than you consume, we give you generation credits. This means credits do not
apply to the transmission or distribution services. Demand is still billed
as it is not a generation line item. These items are indicated in red on
the image of the bill.

Below is our online connection for FAQ and solar information. If you need a
copy of the original agreement that was signed for the interconnection
responsibility and credits, please request this at
www.dgcoordinator-ohio.com listed at the bottom of the image.

I hope this helps with your inquiry!
