Vic Elam of the Ohio River Islands Wildlife Refuge and I are giving a talk
this evening on restoration ecology.  If you are interested, please join

restoration here in SE Ohio.

*Whether it's r**eclaiming "wild" lands, re-establishing native plants and
trees, protecting habitats for birds, butterflies, mussels, and other
wildlife, cleaning up river waters, or simply creating places for humans to
enjoy the natural environment, **this program** will offer ways to get
involved in projects in the MOV.*

*Mark Krivenchenia*, who recently initiated a volunteer stewardship program
at the Broughton Nature and Wildlife Education Area near Marietta, will
explain the history, goals and purposes of restoration ecology, as well as
describing projects already underway in the region.

*Vic Elam,* manager for the Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge
through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, will describe ongoing work at
the Refuge, and his vision for the 22 islands spread over 362 miles of the
Ohio River through West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Kentucky, including
*Buckley,
Middle, Muskingum and Neale islands in the Mid-Ohio Valley.*
