[Green] Injection Wells

Green sanctuary Committee:

      I just had a return phone call from Kevin Ritter, President of the
Washington County Commissioners about the issue of lifting the cap on
injection well fees.

     He told me that the county commissioners in SE Ohio have engaged in
conversation with the Ohio legislature at this time about this matter. The
House's first response to their request was to lift the cap and give 50% to
the counties and 50% back to the state. The commissioners objected to that
idea, and the House has developed a new amendment to lift the cap and  give
50% to the townships and 50% to the counties. There would be no special
funds for clean-up, however. The House is currently discussing this
amendment.
