Folks,
If you look on Manchin's letter, there is a section about the Department of
Energy application for 9.5 billion in hydrogen energy hub funding from the
Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This is the first I have heard about this
and the comment period has already closed, unfortunately. I am afraid that
we may have missed an opportunity to provide comment stressing that this
hydrogen production is truly green (the hydrogen is produced by
electrolysis and any energy involved in production comes from a renewable
source). There is language in the application that indicates that this is
to be green hydrogen production, but I have a low level of confidence given
the parties involved in this application process.

Last week, U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm announced $5 million
for a battery supply chain workforce development initiative that will
include training pilot projects. This investment will ensure West
Virginia’s highly-skilled workforce is ready for these critical energy
jobs. U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland also highlighted more than
$280 million in Abandoned Mine Lands funding made possible by the
Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill. These funds ensure we can plug, remediate
and reclaim orphaned oil and gas wells, and reclaim abandoned mine lands
for future use.

to participate in the competition to become the new home of hydrogen energy
production funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. With our abundant
energy sources and strong partnerships, our state is uniquely situated to
compete to develop a hydrogen hub.
I am incredibly proud of the efforts of our bipartisan group to put forward
a great proposal that showcases how West Virginia can continue to lead the
country – and the world – in advancing energy technologies and bring
good-paying jobs to the state. West Virginia has a long history of powering

After his interview for a job opportunity with the FBI, Peyton asked my
office to inquire about the overdue timeline to gain his security
clearance. With the help of my caseworker, Peyton quickly had any answer
from his recruiter about his clearance approval. With this information,
Peyton was able to confidently make the move back to his home state of West
Virginia in order to begin his new career opportunity.
