Hello, GSC members and friends,
Following Dawn's suggestion at our meeting last Sunday, I looked into
the UU Ministry for Earth information that came out recently, and I have
scheduled the documentary film, */The Condor and The Eagle/*, for a
"community screening" for our congregation, and I have indicated that we
will have a discussion session of our own on Monday, November 22, to
follow up (or precede, that will be up to you) viewing the film, which
you can do on your own any time now until November 30. As a co-hosting
organization, it is suggested that we make a donation. With your
approval, I'd like to donate $50 from our aluminum can recycling fund.
Please let me know if that's OK by replying to this email.
Here's an explanation of the plan.
*The Green Sanctuary Committee Invites You To View */*The Condor and The
Eagle*/
UU Ministry for Earth is partnering with the creators of */*The Condor
and The Eagle */*for one last big community screening, and you are
invited to participate!
*GSC is co-hosting a "community screening" of the documentary film,
which is available now until November 30th. Access it at**:
https://event.webinarjam.com/register/204/n7yn7fr3
<https://event.webinarjam.com/register/204/n7yn7fr3>.to view on your own
schedule, then join GSC members on Zoom on Monday, November 22, 2021,
for our own interactive discussion of the documentary.*
*Although it is not required, you are encouraged to make a donation when
you sign up to view the film. (GSC will be making an organizational
donation - I HOPE! - for the privilege of co-hosting and sharing the
film with our congregation, but chipping in a dollar or two would be
greatly appreciated.. All donations will be split 50/50 between "No More
Sacrificed Communities" Film Impact Campaign and Create Climate Justice
- Indigenous Solidarity Fund, which is managed by UUMFE.}*
*FILM **SYNOPSIS:***Indigenous environmental leaders embark on an
extraordinary trans-continental adventure from the Boreal forest to deep
into the heart of the Amazonian jungle to unite the peoples of North and
South America and deepen the meaning of “Climate Justice”. /The Condor &
The Eagle/ documentary offers a glimpse into a developing spiritual
renaissance as the film four protagonists learn from each other’s long
legacy of resistance to colonialism and its extractive economy. Their
path through the jungle takes them on an unexpectedly challenging and
liberating journey, which will forever change their attachment to the
Earth and one another.
/The Condor & The Eagle/premiered in October 2019 at the Woodstock Film
Festival, was selected by 28 world-renowned film festivals and has won 8
awards including Best Environmental Documentary at the 2019 Red Nation
Film Festival.
A pre-recorded panel discussion with the filmmaker Clement Guerra and
protagonists from the film will begin playing after the film credits.
Spanish and English Closed Captioning subtitles are available. (Just a
note to warn you: the panel discussion is quite interesting, but it's
pretty long - maybe an hour. Tacking it on after viewing the film is a
big time commitment. We viewed both last night and found it was really
too much at one time for us, even though it was really good.)
_*OTHER THINGS FROM UUMFE*_
We've already missed a couple of things that looked interesting, but
here's something else that is part of UUMFE's current work:

UN Climate Conference, COP26. Learn morehere.

*My email got stuck in the outbox, so we won't be able to do this one. -
Sorry!
